I bought this for my 3 mile commute. This was a terrific solution, but took some effort to make it ready for the road.
The quality that went into building the scooter was less than optimal. A lot of the bolts were not tight, the pedals holes did not align with the post the pedals attach to and the gear on the rear wheel was not screwed onto the wheel. These were all items I easily corrected and I was off on my ride. It was a nice ride, the shocks actually work. Turn signals and lights work, but I keep hitting the horn button with my knee! Hehehe. The speedometer does not measure the speed, but rather calculates it and does that poorly. The only real disappointment was with the power of the engine, it took a really long time to get up to speed and this can be an issue in traffic, I can’t get out of the way of vehicles especially starting up at intersections. The simple solution for me was to add a 5th battery. After investing $75 for a battery and $75 for a bigger charger, I mounting the new battery under the seat and now it has good pick-up and has a faster top speed. The range is good, I charge every 2 or 3 days and the charger stores easily in under the seat.
This is not a perfect product out of the box, but I couldn’t live without it now. My new relaxation technique is a cross-town ride on Saturday afternoons on my scooter.

I got this almost a year ago and have been using it as a car/bike substitute ever since. It’s the cutest little thing – saves you on all those unnecessary expenses that come with owning a car – the only thing you have to do is plug it into an outlet at the end of the day and you’re set. Truth be told, it’s not perfect in any way and if you’re used to the conveniences of a car you will never get used to this. It’s in no way fun when it’s freezing or raining and snowing outside, but there are rain capes and winter jackets and all sorts of stuff to work with in those cases. The only limitation is that you aren’t really considered a regular vehicle in the way a regular gas scooter is for example. Since this thing barely goes over 20mph it doesn’t really do good on roads with high traffic. I use it to go to school, to go grocery shopping (because I make frequent trips instead of stocking up once a week) and just to generally make my way around the neighborhood, but I always take quiet streets with almost no traffic because people get extremely annoyed when you’re in their way – I don’t blame them, I’d probably be the same way. Anyway, if your commute is less than 3-4 miles and you have the option to take a route with minimal traffic – go for it, it will be the best investment you ever made. Keep in mind, I still drive when I have to take busy routes and go somewhere farther than 3-4 miles – this thing is just not up to par on the speed yet.
